Bradford billiards team back in action

Last seasons Hey’s Trophy winners Undercliffe Cricket Club B in action tonight

BRADFORD’S billiards team of Stephen Kershaw, Paul Devitt and Steve Wilman take on Harrogate in the Yorkshire Inter-District League at Great Horton Conservative Club on Saturday (7.30pm). Spectators are welcome.

In Division One of the snooker league, Bradford No 1’s match at Leeds No 1 has been postponed as the host team have a rearranged fixture with Sheffield No 1.

It looks likely they will instead rearrange their fixture with Leeds No 2 at 7pm Northern Snooker Centre Leeds as Bradford No 2 are unavailable to play that side this week.

FIRST-leg ties in the opening round of the Hey’s Trophy are scheduled for tonight, with matches as follows:

Inspired Wayne Cooper puts Bradford No 1 back on rails in Yorkshire Inter-District Snooker League

Wayne Cooper was in sublime form in defeating classy opponent Giles Behbood

BRADFORD No 1 got their season back on track with a 5-1 victory against Harrogate at Undercliffe Cricket Club in the Yorkshire Inter-District Snooker League.

Having drawn one and lost two in their opening three matches – an unusual sequence of results for a normally consistent side – it should be remembered that those defeats came against Sheffield No 1 and Castleford No 1, who are fancied to go all the way this campaign.

Gareth Green, with the Eric Hodgkinson Bradford Snooker Handicap Trophy which he won last year

THE Bradford Snooker Handicap final takes place at Great Horton Conservative Club on Saturday (8pm).

It sees Andy Boswell (Girlington Conservative Club) taking on Joe Hollings (Eccleshill Victoria Conservative Club) for the Eric Hodgkinson Trophy.

Boswell defeated Paul Davey (Undercliffe Cricket Club) 3-0, while Hollings edged past Michael Sharp (Cullingworth Conservative Club) 3-1.

There will be another new name on the trophy, named after Telegraph & Argus billiards and snooker correspondent Hodgkinson, who ran cue sports in the district for over 25 years until his death in 2014.

**Yorkshire Snooker League Captains and Delegates**

Important-Announcement-292x300

Hi All

Just a note for the future please, can all captains from the snooker teams in the Yorkshire League make sure the result is sent through to Terry Crofts as soon as possible after matches are played, so he can update the league tables as quickly as possible. I know some players are contacting me to find out what league standings are, but results are not filtering through to Terry quickly enough at the minute, therefore the table is not updated as he or you would like.

Terry runs the Yorkshire Inter-District League and needs the results first and foremost. Terry’s contact number is 07748 434032 and email is terrycrofts@gmail.com

Thanks guys

Also,

This Sunday is the Yorkshire Snooker Handicap at Cue Gardens. Registration is 9.00 to 9.30am, £10 entry fee and will be best of 5 frames throughout the event. Dress code applies which is no jeans, trainers, collarless t-shirts etc, shoes, trousers and shirt/polo shirt is preferred. Please can you pass the information to your players should they wish to attend.

Any queries please give me a shout.

Thanks again

Regards

Rich
