South Bradford Games League Weekly Update

Hi Guys

Herewith the updates for Week 25.

PLEASE NOTE: Regarding the 2 x Billiards matches that were postponed this week:
Both these matches MUST be played before the final round of matches on Wednesday 14th March.

If any match is not completed before this date then BOTH teams LOSE ALL available points from the match, which in the current context of the Billiards season could mean them losing the League Title.

Also Individual and Pairs knockout matches must be completed by next Sunday 11th March at 5pm…….please remind your players.

Play-off needed to decide last Bradford billiards semi-finalist

Mark Hirst, is seeking a ninth Bradford Billiards Championship title

THREE of the four semi-finalists have been confirmed for the Bradford Billiards Championship.

They are eight-times winner Mark Hirst and Bradford captain Stephen Kershaw, who both won all four of their qualifying matches, and Richard Bowes, who won three.

Gareth Green seeking fifth Bradford title as he knocks out holder

FOUR-time winner Gareth Green is the first player through to this year’s Bradford Snooker Championship semi-finals

FOUR-time winner Gareth Green is the first player through to this year’s Bradford Snooker Championship semi-finals after a 4-1 victory against holder Mark Ball.

Ball had the chance to go 2-1 up but Green took the frame and this proved to be the turning point, although the match was much closer than the scoreline suggests.

Green was also in good form for Bradford No 1 at the weekend, helping them to their sixth consecutive 5-1 victory in the Yorkshire Inter-District League – this time against Harrogate at Undercliffe Cricket Club.

Paul Devitt edges through to keep Bradford in fight

Paul Devitt,, won a dour battle against Steve Crosland to take Bradford over the line in their billiards clash with Yorkshire Inter-District League leaders Harrogate

BRADFORD’S billiards team picked up a 7-5 win at Great Horton Conservative Club in the Yorkshire Inter-District League as they beat leaders Harrogate to remain in contention for the title.

Steve Wilman got Bradford off to a great start, knocking in breaks of 43 and 51 to defeat Harrogate captain Tim Godolphin 200-81 and take the hosts into a 3-0 lead.

The second game looked like it might even things up as Jon Marwood took an early lead for Harrogate with an effort of 33 and gave Bradford captain Stephen Kershaw few opportunities to respond.

Yet a late break of 31 from the home man got him over 100 to secure a single point and keep Bradford in front at 4-3.
