The World Billiards Championships come to Leeds again next week. On Friday (17th) there is a qualifying competition with 6 places up for grabs in the timed format and 9 places in the 150 up format. Mark Hirst and Stephen Kershaw are among those hoping to qualify.
On Saturday and Sunday both are among 64 players entered for the Jim Williamson Memorial, which acts as a curtain raiser for the World Championship’s proper, which start on Monday 20th and run to Wednesday 29th October, to be followed by the World Ladies Championship. So over the next two weeks there is plenty of billiards on offer at The Northern Snooker Centre. Spectators are welcome at all sessions which will start with a morning session and run through the day and into the evening. Admission for spectators is free.
