Clash of the Titans

Due to allot of people asking when a certain 1st round Bradford Pairs match is been played i thought it may be wise to write up this small post due to all the interest.

Defending two times Bradford pairs champions Gareth & Anthony Green will play current Yorkshire pairs champions Wayne Cooper & Kevin Firth in this years pick of the 1st round draws.

A mouth watering match-up that cannot be missed!!

Now a little about the players involved,

Gareth Green

Gareth Green, Four times defending singles champion who narrowly missed out in the Uk championship last week losing 4-2 when he was squared up against one of the tournament favourites Judd Trump, a superb effort from Gareth who made a 50+ break followed in the next frame with a 90 break showing just what he is capable of under pressure.

Anthony Green

Anthony Green

Anthony Green, a dark horse for the singles title this season must be said after a shock 4 – 1 victory against Wayne Cooper a nine times former champion of the event.

I don’t think anyone could have predicted a dominant score line like that against such a high ranked player like Wayne.

Kevin Firth

Kevin Firth, Bradford no1 team captain and former England international, former 5 times Bradford pairs champion and 2011 singles runner-up a veteran of the game at a slender age of 45 but still a handful for anyone.

Wayne Cooper

Wayne Cooper

Wayne Cooper, former snooker  professional and with a massive nine times Bradford singles champion ship to his name not to mention seven times Bradford pairs titles, in fact there is not much at amateur level Wayne hasn’t won.

This match up had people breathless momentarily when the draw was done live at Undercliffe a few weeks ago.

The players have had emails and texts from people asking when this match is due to be played so they can come and watch, well the players have come to an arrangement.

This match-up is scheduled for, Sunday 15th Dec at Undercliffe Cricket Club, 19:30 kick off

Its recommended that people turn up early as seating is limited in whats expected to be a packed house.
