Six of the best for Bradford pairs champions

Kevin Firth and Wayne Cooper have been crowned Bradford Pairs champions

WAYNE Cooper and Kevin Firth won the Bradford Snooker Pairs title for the sixth time together, this being the tenth occasion Cooper has won the event in total and Firth the seventh.

The first frame at Great Horton Conservative Club went the way of their opponents, Mark Slater making a superb clearance on the colours to give himself and partner Jason Murgatroyd the lead with a 62-61 win.

Champions Bradford are number one

Anthony Green drew 1-1

Bradford No.1’s snooker side were successful in finishing the season as Yorkshire Inter District League Champions, adding the Division One title to the UK League title the team won back in November, although the final match was tense.

Green secures number five

GARETH Green has claimed the Bradford Snooker Championship for the fifth time after a hard-fought 4-2 victory over Stefan Risidi in the final at Great Horton Conservative Club.

But Green didn’t have it all his own way, especially in the early stages.

It was a short turnaround from the semi-finals, which took place only two days before, where Green was outstanding against Bradford team-mate Josh Walker.

The 4-0 win included equalling the competition’s highest break of 80 – ironically Walker had made the same break a round earlier – while Risidi made breaks of 38, 33 and 56 in his 4-2 success over Lewis Walsh, who himself had a 64.
