Bradford Snooker Handicap semi-finals this weekend

Seven-times Bradford billiards champion Mark Hirst helped Yorkshire to the county title

THE semi-finals of the Bradford Snooker Handicap take place on Saturday at Eccleshill Victoria Conservative Club (8pm).

Chris Simmonds (Salthorn) takes on Chris Davies (Tong Libs), while Undercliffe Cricket Club’s Sonny Sandhu plays S Ratcliffe (East Ward). Spectators are welcome.

The Hey’s Trophy is set to get underway next month, with first-round matches taking place on Thursdays December 14 and 21.

Tournament director Eddie Ratcliffe will be sending out full details, with handicaps, over the next week or so.

End of an era as snooker aces Cooper, Firth and Slater call it quits for Bradford in Yorkshire Inter-District League

WAYNE Cooper, Kevin Firth and Mark Slater had what could be a successful last hurrah as Bradford No 1 bounced back in style from their opening-game defeat at Castleford No 1 to claim a 6-0 whitewash at Harrogate in Division One of the Yorkshire Inter-District Snooker League.

Cooper, one of the finest players for Yorkshire in recent years, long-time doubles partner Firth and perennial stand-in Slater, who have taken Bradford to county glory so often in the past, have all decided to call it a day at representative level, but were called on for one last time together as their replacements were unavailable
