BRADFORD’S No 1 snooker side suffered a small setback in their quest to retain the Yorkshire Inter-District League title with a 4-2 defeat at home to second-placed Sheffield No 1 at Undercliffe Cricket Club.

David Birley gave the visitors the start they wanted in the Division One contest with a 62-47 victory against Wayne Cooper, although the latter responded superbly with a 91 clearance to level the match with a 100-30 success.

South Bradford Games League

title316896562Hi Guys

Well its almost season over, playing wise anyway. We have the following finals left to play:

Snooker Pairs – Thursday 16th April at Great Horton Cricket Club
M.Slater & S.Harker versus G.Binns & A Oldroyd

Team Snooker – Tuesday 21st April at Great Horton Cons Club
Lilycroft B versus Clayton Libs A

Team Billiards – Wednesday 22nd April at Queensbury Cons
Clayton Rugby A versus Great Horton Cricket Club

Could you please try and get as many spectators as you can to come along and support these finals. Also if you are one of the clubs staging one of the TEAM events could you please try and be there yourself along with another helper as I will need at least 2 x scorers and 2 x markers for both nights.

I am aiming to try and start all the finals at 7.45pm so if all participants could be there for around 7.30pm that would be good.

Any problems please give me a shout

Thanks
Paul

STEVE Wilman is through to his first Bradford Billiards Championship final.

He had a 319-207 victory over Stephen Kershaw at Chapel Green Liberal Club, and was never behind after a series of 30 and 40 breaks.

Paul Devitt produced a spirited effort in the other semi-final to hang on to defending champion Mark Hirst, with little separating the pair at the halfway point.

However, Hirst produced breaks of 168 and 56 unfinished to win their contest 418-200, which means that the two group winners will contest the final at Great Horton Conservative Club on Monday, April 27 (7.30pm).
