A message from Dave Parrott for all Conservative League clubs!!

All games on the Tuesday 28th October 2014 can be played at a later date (within a 6 week period) this is due to Derek Gambles funeral which is being held the same day, for those who would like to pay their respects to Derek the funeral service is to be held at Rawdon at 14:00 and then to Shipley Cons afterwards.

First-class Bradford No 1 live up to their ranking

yorkshireTHE Yorkshire Inter District Snooker League started at the weekend and Division One defending champions Bradford No1 hosted their No 2 counterparts at Undercliffe Cricket Club, with a mouthwatering opening match between eight-time Bradford champion Wayne Cooper and four-time winner Gareth Green.

Bradford No 2 won the Second Division title last season and started the match well, Green opening up a 52-point lead in the first frame, aided by a 31 break. Cooper then made a 54 break to edge in front and eventually took the first frame 69-52.

The World Billiards Championships

image_6_171The World Billiards Championships come to Leeds again next week. On Friday (17th) there is a qualifying competition with 6 places up for grabs in the timed format and 9 places in the 150 up format. Mark Hirst and Stephen Kershaw are among those hoping to qualify.

On Saturday and Sunday both are among 64 players entered for the Jim Williamson Memorial, which acts as a curtain raiser for the World Championship’s proper, which start on Monday 20th and run to Wednesday 29th October, to be followed by the World Ladies Championship. So over the next two weeks there is plenty of billiards on offer at The Northern Snooker Centre. Spectators are welcome at all sessions which will start with a morning session and run through the day and into the evening. Admission for spectators is free.
